DYNAMIC MASSAGE
where education and method unite
TREATMENTS
Each massage therapist has a unique approach to their work. Read about the techniques I offer and how I incorporate them in to a mixed modality approach to enhance the effectiveness of your treatment!
CUPPING
Cupping is an amazing technique to release restrictions. With the use of plastic or silicone cups applied to areas of trigger points, adhesions or 'knots', I can work inn the opposite direction of 'typical' massage by using negative pressure to pull the many layers of soft tissue up and away from each other, thus releasing restrictions. I will also glide the cups and branch out to further relax the tissue. I often incorporate cupping into a Swedish or deep tissue massage as needed.
CRANIOSACRAL THERAPY, CST
CST is NOT a scalp massage. Cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) circulates through the brain and spinal cord and has a rhythm that can be felt throughout the body, it's called craniosacral rhythm (CSR). By following and assessing the speed and strength of your CSR and how that rhythm effects the movement of various bony landmarks, I can find areas of restrictions. At that area of restriction, I use light touch work to release and correct restrictions, resetting your CSR. There may be times I discover imbalances farther away from but contributing to your problem area, at that point I may pull in Swedish, deep tissue, cupping or myofascial work.
DEEP TISSUE MASSAGE
Deep tissue focuses work in chronic problem areas. It is not often a 'full-body' massage. Contrary to popular belief, deep tissue work does NOT have to hurt. The key is to gradually apply pressure, let the tissue soften as you work through each layer. As your massage therapist, I can only work as deep as your body allows. This is where a mixed modality approach often comes in handy.
MYOFASCIAL RELEASE, MFR OR CONNECTIVE TISSUE WORK
Although there are specific pathways of thicker, superficial facial trails throughout the body, all fascia of the body is mapped completely unique for every person. Fascia is necessary, it's the glue that holds cells, tissues, etc together and in place. However, sometimes your fascia can get caught in a 'tug-of-war' between muscles. Using little to no lotion and slow compression, I aim to release superficial connective tissue restrictions which then give me the ability to get to deeper layers and increase the effectiveness of your treatment.
SWEDISH MASSAGE
It is the 'typical' massage people are familiar with. Full body massage, the pressure can be light, medium or firm. This treatment is best when there are no chronic 'problem' areas that affect your activities of daily living (ADL), range of motion (ROM) or mood on a regular basis. It's a modality I will use at some point in every massage, it is necessary to warm up tissue for more specific work.
